Last updated 25 September 2026. How we handle personal information collected through this website.
Who we are
JUMTA Xpress Cargo is a customs clearance and freight forwarding business operated by JUMTA Xpress Cargo Ltd. (RC 7005299), based in Kano, Nigeria. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean JUMTA Xpress Cargo Ltd. operating as JUMTA Xpress Cargo.
This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website (cargo.jumta.com.ng) and when you contact us from it, why, and what choices you have.
What we collect
Information you give us when you send the "Request a quote" form, or contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email:
- Your name, company name, phone or WhatsApp number and email address.
- On the form: the service you need, what you are moving and where from, the quantity, and any details you choose to add.
- Details of your shipment or inquiry, such as the goods, their origin and destination, the port or airport, and dates.
- Documents you send us to prepare a quote or handle a shipment, such as invoices, packing lists, bills of lading or air waybills, and Form M details. These can contain personal information about you or your business contacts.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, technical information is created by the services that run it: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and how you arrived. This appears in hosting logs and in our analytics (see "Cookies and analytics").
How we use it
We use your information for the purposes below. We do not sell your personal information.
- To reply to your inquiry, prepare quotes and handle the shipments you ask us to handle.
- To run, secure and improve the website, including blocking spam and automated abuse.
- To understand how the site is used, so we can make it clearer and more useful.
- To meet legal and regulatory obligations that apply to us as a licensed customs agent.
Legal basis for processing
We rely on our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries, running a secure website and understanding how it is used; on the steps needed to quote for and carry out the work you ask us to do; and on our legal obligations as a licensed customs agent. We do not currently ask for your consent to process this information, because we do not currently do anything (such as send marketing emails) that would need it. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for consent where the law requires it.
Cookies and analytics
We use HubSpot analytics on this site. It sets cookies that recognise a returning visitor and record which pages are viewed and where the visit came from. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Where a cookie banner is shown, your choice there applies, and you can change it at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.
The "Request a quote" form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a security check that confirms a submission comes from a real person. It may use technical signals from your browser to do this.
Who we share it with
When you ask us to handle a shipment, we pass the necessary details and documents to Nigeria Customs Service and other government agencies, and to shipping lines, terminals and transport partners, only as far as needed to handle that shipment.
We also use these service providers to run the site. They handle information only to provide their service to us:
- Resend: delivers the notification email when you send the "Request a quote" form.
- HubSpot: website analytics.
- Vercel: website hosting, including server logs.
- Cloudflare: the Turnstile security check on the form.
- Sanity: manages the website content. It does not receive form submissions, messages or documents.
- WhatsApp: if you contact us on WhatsApp, your messages are also handled by WhatsApp under its own privacy policy.
Transfers outside Nigeria
Some of these providers process information in other countries, including the United States and Europe. By using the site or contacting us you understand your information may be processed outside Nigeria.
How long we keep it
For people requesting quotes or customs and freight services, we retain data for the duration of the business transaction and up to 5 years following the last active interaction. This long-term retention is maintained to comply with statutory Nigerian corporate tax audits (FIRS/CITA), customs regulatory requirements, and the Limitation Law guidelines for contract dispute resolution.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for a purpose. You can also withdraw consent you have given us. To do any of these, contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to keep some records where the law requires it (see "How long we keep it").
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or, if you are in Europe, to your local data-protection authority.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and access to your information and documents is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
